‘The Marshall Center’s Strategic Importance’
COL Kevin Jacobi recently arrived here from Fort Irwin, CA where he was the Regimental Commander of the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment, prior to an assignment as Director, J357 JTF HOA, Djibouti Africa. He has served an Armor officer for 25 years and is now assigned as the current Director of Plans and Strategy for the Marshall Center here in Garmisch.
‘Everything is Coming Up Roses’
Cathy Jacobi has spent most of her married life applying her singular talents to starting her own businesses. She has been a Seamstress, Birthday Party and Sing-a-Gram clown, Aerobics, Yoga and Belly Dance Instructor but more recently a Crafter and Stained Glass Artist. In her recent assignment she started a store in Ft Irwin PX called ‘Kaleidoscope Crafts and Creations: Everybody’s Home Business….By the military, for the military’. In the last 12 months this business put back into military crafters pockets over $45,000.
‘Internet and Social Media Security’
David Snyder After graduating from the Naval Academy in the early 80’s he spent his career serving on submarines. During this time he was also interested/involved in many security disciplines. After retiring from the Navy he became a civilian security specialist and is presently the Site Security Manager for USAG Bavaria, Garmisch.
‘Thoughts on Leadership’
Ben Reed is the US Deputy Director of the George C Marshall Center for Security Studies here in Garmisch. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lt in 1980 and completed operational assignments in Nurnberg, Kitzingen here in Germany and in Ft Riley Kansas. In 1989 Mr. Reed began training to become an Army Eurasian Foreign Area Officer and through this program graduated with a Master’s Degree from Indiana University as well as from the Russian Institute here in Garmisch in 1992. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Reed worked in the Coast Guard International Affairs Office coordinating support for US Government programs in the Caucasus and Caspian Sea Regions. Mr. Reed returned to the Marshall Center in 2002 and fulfilled several assignments within the organization until he became the US Deputy Director in February 2014.
