Title: 4 Lenses and Beyond
Description: What’s the color of the lense that you see the world through? Did you know that your color can change as you change? This class will help you discover what your color lense is and explore how you can apply this knowledge, not only for yourself but also to foster stronger relationships with everyone in your life.
Speaker: Yolanda Easton is married to the 3 AF and 17th Expeditionary Air Force Command Chief. She served 7 years active duty and close to 3 years in the Air National Guard. During this time she crossed trained into the computer operator field and supported Operation Deny Flight over the Adriatic Sea. She met her husband at her technical school at Keesler AFB, MS. They were married a year later and now have two teenage girls. After her military career she worked as a contractor at Tinker AFB, OK. This is where she started her home based business and is now going on her 18th year as a director. She has trained and coached during this time and has spoken on a National level at her business conferences. She currently holds a position as an advisor on the Ramstein Enlisted Spouses Association and is also a founding member of "Let's Talk", an organization created to support military spouses through mentoring and personal development. She continues to dedicate her time and efforts on making military life easier for the airmen and their families.
Title: Everyone Communicates, Few Connect
Description: Connecting Increases Your Influence in Every Situation Learn how to identify with people and relate to others in a way that increases your influence with them. To be a successful leader, you need to learn to communicate in a way that connects with others. If you can connect with others—one-on-one, in groups, and with an audience—your sense of community improves, your ability to create teamwork increases, and your influence skyrockets. People who connect with others have better relationships, experience less conflict, and get more things done than those who cannot connect. Leaders who have learned the art of connection are able to communicate their ideas persuasively, establishing buy-in and attracting followers.
Speaker: Dr.ssa Angela Salvi has a formal medical education from the school medicine in Pavia, Italy and a Master Degree in Management Information System from UMUC-E. Angela has worked for almost 20 years in the field of Military Psychology and leadership research for the US army in Europe. Title: I'm a Vet, Why Volunteer?
Description: A military member transitioning out of the military may find the job they've done for Uncle Sam may not easily translate into a civilian job. So, how do you recover from "wasted" years? Volunteering can provide you the necessary field experience. Let's discuss how.
Speaker: Dave Etter is the definition of service, loyalty and compassion. A veteran of the United States Navy, Dave’s first experience in the military world was not as a spouse, but as a Navy submariner. He completed nine and a half years of active duty service, underway much of the time. “You can go out to sea for unreal periods of time. You don’t see the light of day when you’re out there. It’s a whole different world. I can definitely associate with these guys that go out and play in the sandbox on deployments.” But Dave’s not all button up serious; the experienced public speaker is a natural entertainer—at one point he played the trombone in the John Phillip Souza Naval Recruit Training Band. When he first became a military spouse, it was through public speaking and the development of his radio show where he found a new way to serve and honor military families. Dave, whose spouse, Stephanie, is a respiratory therapist, knew that his time in military service and now his service as a spouse give him a unique perspective of the challenges faced by military families and how to resolve them. Every week Dave answers questions, carries light-hearted banter and lifts the spirits of military spouses and members around the world on his show.
Dave has served as a Spouse Master Resiliency Trainer, Army Family Team Building Instructor, Army Family Action Plan delegate, Family Readiness volunteer, Ramstein Enlisted Spouses Association member and a Boy Scouts of America (BSA) District Leader. He has volunteered more than 1,200 hours with the military and 7,000 hours with the Boy Scouts.
In 2016, Dave will expand his radio show, which is already focused on helping others, to serve as a leader for Army and military families by answering any questions they have and by directing them toward resources they might seek. He will continue to showcase and support the male military spouse, a growing group in the military spouse community.
